Samurai's latest shirt offering for F/W 2024 is crafted using natural botanical dyes, specifically derived from gardenia plants. Gardenia shrubs grow in the wild and are typically found in the warmer region of Shikoku, Kyushu. In order to produce the crisp yellow dye used for this shirt, the gardenia fruit and water are placed in a stainless steel pot, heated and brought to a boil. After about 20 minutes, the pot is strained through a cloth and the resulting decoction is used as the dye stock. The design of the shirt draws inspiration from vintage workwear, featuring non-symmetrical pockets on the left and right sides. The sleeves are constructed with a three-piece design for added durability.
To accentuate the craftsmanship and attention to detail, Selvedge is incorporated into the shirt's hem, lower front edge, and even the sleeves. The stitching is done using a natural color cotton thread, and triple-needle stitching construction.
