Crafted from an original 10oz. selvedge denim woven on old shuttle looms, the deep indigo base provides a rich backdrop for the signature Wabash dot pattern, achieved through a carefully tested discharge process. Each test iteration was refined until the dots achieved a natural, soft appearance rather than a harsh contrast, allowing the shirt to age with a balanced, organic fade.
True to The Flat Head’s vintage-inspired approach, the Western-style yoke is cut on the bias to subtly shift the visual direction of the fabric, creating contrast against the body. The chest pockets, including the flaps, are carefully pattern-matched to maintain visual harmony, blending seamlessly into the shirt’s striped motif.
The shirt’s construction utilizes double-needle chain-stitched seams with rolled hemming, originally developed to enhance durability. As the shirt is worn and washed, the chain stitches contract and expand with the fabric, producing distinctive puckering along the seams. This natural undulation enhances the texture of the denim, creating striking highs and lows that deepen with time.
Details like yellow pearl snap buttons, chosen for their natural luster and color-shifting tones, further elevate the garment’s aesthetic. The snaps are left uncoated, preserving the organic beauty of the shell.
