PBJ's "Extra Slub" Black Selvedge Jeans

PBJ's "Extra Slub" series is back in black! First released in 2020, the EX Jeans sought to closely replicate the streaky "rain" texture of PBJ's "Aizome" series jeans, while still fading like regular “pure” indigo warp jeans.
Fresh for 2021, the Slub Masters' latest iteration of this popular model comes in a stealthy sulphur-dyed black color.

Sulfur dyeing a fabric with this level of slub is no easy task. It is difficult for cotton to easily absorb that quantity of dye in a way that produces a shade of royal black. Thus a tedious method is utilized, of applying 50% of the dye to the yarns, air oxidizing before repeating the process in order to achieve the deep black color of the jeans.

Compared to rope dyed denim which typically yields high-contrast fades, the fading profile of sulfur dyed fabrics are much more slow and subdued. Over a long period of wear, you can expect these jeans to gradually fade to a dull gray color.

In tandem with the fabric, the details are kept just as stealthy. PBJ opting for a black lambskin leather patch and black embroidery for the leaf logo.

Featured in the fan-favorite -019 silhouette, The Relaxed Tapered cut has a lengthier front rise, a wider thigh, and an a taper from the knee down creating an aesthetically pleasing silhouette.
