The first F/W 2021 arrivals from Momotaro and Japan Blue

August 19, 2021

The first set of F/W 2021 drops coming in strong from Momotaro and Japan Blue, and it looks like they’re making full use of those jacquard weaving machines for their shirting game this season.
Kicking things off with Momotaro, their latest proprietary Jacquard Camo Shirt celebrates a plethora of Indigo hues in an updated woodland camo motif.
This adventurous development by the Peach Boys shows variance within Jacquard woven pattern realm. Every meter of this proprietary fabric is painstakingly produced by calibrating Jacquard looms, to make them capable of outputting this complex pattern. Given the resulting variegation of indigo hues, one can imagine the eye-watering amount of individual threads that have to be hand-fed into the loom prior to the production process even starts.
While cut in a work shirt motif, this stand-out fabric is best appreciated in a casual setting. Suffice to say, you won't be blending into the environment unless you happen to be in an indigo jungle!
The Jacquard threads train doesn't stop there. Also crafted under the umbrella of indigo, Momotaro draw inspiration from classic Japanese boro patterns and patchwork motifs.
The dizzying array of individual denim patterns, result in a fabric that is equal part unique and fade worthy. Impeccably constructed, a tasteful selection of brown cat's eye resin buttons grace this unique garment.
A clash of contrasting worlds, the clean work shirt silhouette we are all familiar with melds beautifully with the traditional Japanese patchwork boro-like aesthetic.
One of Momotaro's best-selling outerwear items, just got given a well deserved fabric facelift.
First released in 2017, Momotaro's proprietary Dobby Sashiko fabric has been given that stealthy black sulfur dyed treatment. Black metal buttons and stitching construction keep this piece as covert as the royal black Sashiko fabric base.
In contrast to rope-dyed indigo yarns, expect a very slow fading process that will eventually evolve into a dull gray color over time.
Rounding off the first few F/W drops from the Peach Boys, we welcome the arrival of their updated Denim smartphone in a trio of screen-printed motifs.
Not only is each case produced using the same sanforized 15.7oz. Selvedge denim fabric from their popular GTB lineup, much of the same bells and whistles like the peach-branded metal button and contrast stitching, remain true to the Kojima-based brand's identity.
The updated smartphone case features ample space and is suitable for storing smartphones with displays as large as 7".
New for F/W 2021, JB have combined a quintessentially Japanese "Asanoha" pattern with a highly breathable indigo dyed 5oz. fabric. Asanoha (Hemp Leaf) patterns pay homage to hemp leaves that were cultivated to make garments before the introduction of cotton in the 1600's.
Rope-dyed to that perfect hue of Indigo, the combination of the Asanoha print pattern is the perfect match for this otherwise clean piece.
JB continues to make fantastic use of Côte d'Ivoire Cotton in their garments and this shirt is no exception. The supremely lightweight shirt features triple-needle seam construction and will stand the test of time as you see those fades come through.

The new items drop on 8/20 @ Midnight (JST)
