Following up from our inaugural "Kuro" Jeans collab we did with Samurai last year, we're stoked to bring back the second edition of our Black Friday jeans! Teaming up with the fam at PBJ, we pieced together a limited edition pair, using one of our favorite fabrics from the PBJ lineup.

Coming as no surprise to seasoned denimheads, achieving natural slub on a Black x Black selvedge is not easy. This is due to the very nature of the Sulphur dye used to create black jeans having more of an effect on the texture of the cotton yarn than your conventional indigo dye. While PBJ's proprietary 14oz. Black x Black denim doesn't quite hit the textured trip seen on the recent SR's, its packs some of the most character we've ever seen from any Japanese Double Black denim.

Taking cues from the source, we pay homage to Japan when it came to the naming process, settling on the moniker, Kurokin. Kuro in Japanese is "Black", with Kinyoubi being the word for Friday. The combination of these two words created the concept for "Kurokin", or the casual way of saying Black Friday in Japanese. Keeping the design elements clean & simple, the only splash of color that you're going to see on this otherwise blackout pair is the eponymous red line Selvedge ID homage that PBJ feature on their Leaf logo. 

After carefully considering the anomaly of a year we’ve had in 2020, we wanted to make this years Black Friday Jeans accessible to anyone interested in them. With the help of our main man, Nathan Spoor, Iwaya-san of Pure Blue Japan, and the whole OD team, we’ve been able to piece together the ODPBJ-BB series. As a token of our gratitude and appreciation for our OD family, we’ve worked our earnest best to keep the price of the “Kurokin” jeans as low as possible. We hope you enjoy getting into them as much as we did piecing them together with the fam at PBJ!

The ODPBJ-BB-013 features the "Lifter's cut" favorite Relax Tapered silhouette for their latest black denim. This pair was made to fade. Expect fades similar to a standard 14oz. XX-013 in terms of contrast, and a gray hue to appear with extended wear.
