Big John's new 15.8oz. "Extra" Organic Cotton Selvedge

With a rich history spanning over 50 years, Big John continues to innovate and deliver premium quality Japanese Selvedge denim. You can say that this time around, they really went the "extra" mile with their new proprietary selvedge.

Taking an interesting approach for this latest development, Big John reflect upon their pentagonal, baseball base inspired logo. In connection with this, they started by sourcing organic cotton from five corners of the globe to create their original "Five Continent" Organic Cotton:

 

South America: Organic Aspero Cotton (50%)

North America: Organic Texas Supima Cotton (10%)

Europe: Organic Turkish Cotton (25%)

Asia: Organic Indian Cotton (5%)

Africa: Organic Tanzanian Cotton (5%)

On top of all this, a small amount of recycled cotton (5%) is also added to the blend in order to create a truly vintage texture in the fabric.

 Another premium element of the "Extra" series fabric is that it the yarns are rope dyed in Natural Indigo. Since synthetic indigo penetrates the cotton yarns much more effectively, the yarns were rope dyed a total of 16 times in order to achieve the desired hue of indigo and luster featured in the fabric

The new XX002 Jeans featuring this new unsanforized fabric, are cut in a vintage style regular straight silhouette.
