Ryota-san, head honcho over at Loop & Weft, lives with passion. Those masks we gave out with every order of the
ODLW001 &
ODLW002 collaboration pieces we did with L&W, that was his idea. We helped with the design & development of the fabric as well as the after care research and information. But it was his offer to make those out of pocket.
As the new Loop & Weft masks are produced in one Adult size and one Kid's size, the elastic drawstrings for the ear loop remain untied for this reason. With wear for even a few hours, these elastic bands will stretch, and the mask will eventually droop. This sagging effect defeats the purpose of wearing a face mask at all, and is something we wanted to attack in the design process.
Eventually, we decided to keep the strings untied and to be fastened after each wash so as to ensure the best possible fit on the face.
Produced on the same machines that put out Loop & Weft's "Best Knitwear", the production and meticulous construction of these face masks cut no corners.
